What is the difference between Modern Hebrew tirgum and targum?

I know that the Targums are the Aramaic translations of the Bible, but can it be used to a word for translations in general in Modern Hebrew? If so, am I right to think that tirgum is a gerund referring to the action of translation, while a targum is the result of that action, i.e. the doent that is produced?
