Good quality 35 mm compact zoom FILM camera (NOT APS) .?

I have trawled EBAY and bought at auction two cameras which are totally unsuitable as they have turned out to be APS. I am in the process of disputing the purchases. Why is it that AMAZON can give an honest specification of these cameras and EBAY cannot. Amazon detail specs that include the words APS for both of these cameras. I think that APS is dead as a dodo with only b&w film available (if you can locate it). Why then are supposidely reputable firms allowed to peddle OOD equipment.
