Has the American way of doing business finally been shown to be flawed?

Now that Wall Street has had to come to its knees and had to be bailed out by the taxpayer (and the City in London has had a similar experience) will people finally see that laissez faire economics is ultimately dangerous and destructive and look for a more regulated approach?
