Is this a good idea and will it help me get a job?

Oka so my mom and I stopped at the local vet office today after school and asked if I could do volunteer work there they said yes and that starting off I might have to sweep and mop but might eventually get to work with the dogs and cats there so will this help me get a job and in college I wanna be a vet and I'm only thirteen so is it better to start at an early age?
